lawn surgery

since we moved into the flat, 3 years ago, we've been looking after the garden. every time i mowed the lawn, i caught the top of an anthill. the other week, i dug up the turf over anthill and took some earth away underneath. there were hundreds of tiny red ants, none of which got on me as i was at the other end of a spade.

this is the picture of the lawn, post-operation. i've mowed the lawn since, and didn't take any top layer off.

there is another bump on the other side of the garden, but i can handle that fine with the lawnmower, since it rolls up and down rather than being a lump.
